God’s chosen family in Egypt (Exodus)

Posted on

God’s chosen family is in Egypt.  They continued to multiply.  A new leader came into power in Egypt.  He felt intimidated by the Hebrew people/Israelites, so he made them into slaves.  He also tried to reduce the number of Hebrews/Israelites by killing their male babies.  For 400 years they were in slavery under the Egyptian ruler.  God raised up a deliverer/leader for the Hebrews/Israelites named Moses.  Moses pleaded with the Pharaoh to let the Hebrews/Israelites leave Egypt.  Pharaoh would not let the people leave, so God sent 10 terrible plagues.  The last plague was the plague of death.  The firstborn child in each Egyptian family and the firstborn of their cattle was struck by death.  The angel of death passed over the houses of the Hebrews/Israelites because of the blood of the lamb on their door.  The lamb was their sacrifice/offering to God. (They were instructed by Moses to put lamb’s blood on their door.)    Pharaoh finally gave up and allowed the Hebrew people/Israelites to leave Egypt.  They left Egypt by crossing through the Red Sea.  Moses led then toward the land God had promised them.
